This, like the title says, is a documentary. It’s also the most experimental piece of writing I’ve ever worked on. Every month I wrote another part. I’ve been writing it for a long time. My f-list will recall the first fragment appearing this time last year on my Livejournal with the statement: “I don’t know what to do with this.” I wouldn’t say that I know now, only that the ‘this’ grew.
All the fragments here are based on Tori Amos songs from Boys For Pele, which I think is one of the most perfect albums in the world. These days I don’t listen to Tori so much, but I will always love her, somewhere. Tori is the little friend you don’t always want to listen to, because she’s so quiet, or because she’s weird, or because she tells you true things about yourself that you don’t want to hear – but when you need her she’s there and she knows exactly what to say.
Warning: one of the fragments contains graphic menstrual imagery. Nothing a boy has seen; nothing a girl hasn’t.
